Tropical Paradise is a project that begins in historical travel books and novels that describe the British colonial culture in Sri Lanka from around 1900. During a trip to Sri Lanka in March 2011 I visited and documented the places I prior only had read about. By combining my experiences and reflections from the trip to Sri Lanka with my research of historical travel books diverse images are set in opposition, revealing differences and similarities. Tropical Paradise is a project that examines the construction of a narrative, how knowledge and experience with different origins can be woven together with the purpose of creating new images, new stories.
